The Apostacy and the man of sin
The Apostacy. The world will not be converted before Christ returns. Rather the world generally—and particularly the territory of the old Roman Empire—will be given up to apostacy and false religion. The visible Gentile Church will be cut off, Romans 11:21-22. See 2 Thessalonians 2:2-3, Revelation 13:8, Luke 17:26-30, 18:8.
The Man of Sin, the antichrist, the Beast is revealed before the return of Christ. Cp 2 Thess 2:3-12, Daniel 7:8, 21, 24-25, 8:23-25, 11:36-38, 41, 45, 1John 2:18, Revelation 13:1-8.
The Antichrist will be aided by a false prophet. The false prophet will commission an image of the Antichrist which will then be supernaturally empowered to speak. This image will be placed in the rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem. The false prophet will be able to perform miracles and will insist on every man either receiving the mark of the beast in order to be able to do business. Cp Revelation 13:11-18, Daniel 12:11, Matthew 24:15, Mark 13:14.
The Antichrist will not acknowledge any God but himself. Daniel 11:36, 2 Thessalonians 2:4.
The Antichrist will receive the adoration of all ten kingdoms of the reconstituted Roman Empire. Revelation 13:1, 4, 8, Revelation 17:12-13, 17.
The whole reign of Antichrist will be a time of fierce persecution of saints. Daniel 7:21, 8:24, Revelation 13:7.
Antichrist will continue after his manifestation for a period of three and a half years. Cp Revelation 13:5, Daniel 7:25, 12:7.
Antichrist’s rule will continue without intermission until the advent of Christ. Daniel 7:21-22, 11:45, 12:1, 2 Thess 2:8, Isaiah 11:4, Revelation 19:20-21.
